Ray-Ban was developed for their functional groundbreaking excellence and desired for their legendary appearance. They are the styles that define lives. As Ray-Ban turns 75 this year (a storied milestone for its optical history), things have been switched up for the eternally classic and undeniably cool Wayfarer as it gets an extra boost of attitude for its unwavering style.
Ray-Ban gathered Manila’s mavens of style to its La Boca exclusive media and celebrity summer party which exploded last April 26, 2012 at the equally hot spot franchise, Buddha Bar. Both the artistry and vibe of La Vida Boca came together for the launch where fashion, art, fun and music collided.
Fashion is a form of art and that said, you’re in for a crazy visual treat this summer as Ray-Ban introduces a range of sunglasses (under the Rare Prints special collector’s series 6) that are not only fun to wear but artworks in themselves: the La Boca Collection. It has four fab color-block designs. Part graphic, part pop art-ish, La Boca’s Rare Prints are bold, artsy, psychedelically fun and of out of this world. As you can guess from the name, these are no ordinary sunglasses. This special collection combines colorful new patterns by La Boca design group, these shades give us fresh twist and colorful patterns on the original and classic Ray-Ban Wayfarer.
Rare Prints series: Flowers, Subway, Comics, Button Pins, Typedelic and Blocks
This limited edition Rare Prints (last pair) were inspired by the colorful houses of La Boca, one of Buenos Aires’ most artistic neighborhoods. Vicariously stacked one on top of, or after the other, along the famous pedestrian street that is La Caminito, the buildings in the barrio are painted in fabulously rainbow bright and bold colors. The overall effect is literally large-scale color blocking. A sight to behold, life here is as vibrant as the dwellings and between selling their wares or being up for an impromptu tango, the locals are true blue out and out artists.
The La Boca flavours combine fun, individuality, uniqueness, youth, the hip and free-spirited. It is ready to turn up the heat with its in-your-face designs as Ray-Ban gets an artistic makeover. Definitely not for the shy type, the La Boca vibe is all about “look at me” style.
With Classic pairs and Rare prints, the wayfarer revolutionized the way we saw the world and the way the world saw us. Now living a continued tradition of enduring quality and refined superiority, looks have always been secondary to sight. Ray-Ban got those good summer vibes on a roll and drew the cool albeit colourful crowd.
The eye-popping Ray-Ban brand ambassadors: Ely Buendia and Pupil, 6 Cycle Mind, Itchyworms, Callalilly, Robbie Domingo, Victor Basa, Divine Lee and Anne Curtis!

True to Ray Ban’s slogan “Never Hide”, these glasses allow you to show your individuality through their shades– it becomes a statement. General Luna and Philippine All-Stars performed at the La Boca party and Ray-Ban models ramped the night away! Plus people enjoyed a healthy dose of the live action of local mural artists, Piajet Mortelino and Jerik Robleza.
Everyone RSVP’d in style and came in their hot summer-inspired color blocking outfits in honor and celebration of the new collection’s fabulous collaboration!
Before the program, guests get to express themselves in the painting area tucked away from the stage. At first, i painted my shades with an American Flag but it looked so ugly because the paint won’t stick. So i painted another one that looked like Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry Starry Night” with whirls and splashes of colors. I still can’t believe that i won the grand prize!! Lea grabbed the second prize
So proud of you girl! We were happy campers then! It revealed our true colors, literally.
Resting inside this case, i found an inaugural pair of my first-ever Ray-Ban Rare Prints Special Series Wayfarers. Luckily, i brought home this limited edition eye-candy!
Prints, because of the exclusive new La Boca design, And rare, because these limited edition prints won’t last long and will never be produced again after this season.
It was the best party i’ve ever attended, not because i won, but because i really had so much fun! Lea and i were being Dora the Explorer as we try to complete the passport of adventure. I usually don’t like parties because i’m a socially awkward wallflower. I usually find myself lost in a room full of people socializing, dancing and drinking. But who would have guessed that the thing i love doing most (painting) will be in the place where i least wanted to be (party)?
It was really a sizzling La Boca experience!
