I’ve been collecting my thoughts for sometime thinking of what i really want for Christmas. Luckily (to my parents and to my sister haha), i actually can’t think of anything. I can create a Christmas wish list full of clothes, shoes, chocolates and books but i don’t want any of these material things. I am lucky enough to have a complete and happy family plus real friends. I am grateful for having a house to go home to after a hard day’s work. Gratitude turns what we have into enough.

Sadly last Friday, flash floods and landslides caused by tropical storm Sendong (Washi) destroyed homes and killed hundreds of Filipinos in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. Most of the affected areas are still submerged in mud without light and running water. Soldiers and volunteers are still searching for the 800 people reported missing. Survivors and displaced people are in desperate need of clothes, medicines, food and potable water. And some children are getting sick in the evacuation center. It would be shameless of me if i would complain of always being stressed or sometimes unhappy. I know my problems and worries are nothing compared to others’. It would be selfish of us if we see that everything’s not good enough and we are always not satisfied with what we have. This is the season to share what we got to those who need it the most. Let’s be more compassionate and generous because Christmas is not really about receiving, it is about giving back the best way we can. Let us pray for them and give our hearts because we are fortunate enough to be celebrating Christmas with our families and homes. May God bless Philippines.
